Description

The Syrphidae of Italy (SoI) is a comprehensive database created to include all available information on Italian hoverflies (Diptera, Syrphidae). Managed in TaxonWorks, it provides detailed data on the distribution, nomenclature, and biology of hoverfly species. The growing interest in hoverflies, driven by their crucial ecological roles such as pollination and biological pest control, has led to increased research efforts in Italy. This database aims to integrate historical data with new observations to support ongoing scientific research.

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 3,944 records.
