Description

Data set containing the records of questing ticks – Ixodes Ricinus and Ixodes persulcatus – collected in nature under the One Health surveillance project in Estonia. Funding EU4H-2022-DGA-MS-IBA3

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 90 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Sampling Methods

Flagging method, i.e dragging a flannel cloth on the ground and collecting questing ticks from it.

Study Extent During the period from April to October of 2024-2025 Ixodes ricinus and Ixodes persulcatus species were collected and morphologically identified in Estonia from 6 different sites.

Method step description:

  1. Method steps 1. Laboratory specialists of Republic of Estonia Health Board (TA) defined the appropriate sampling protocol for the target species. 2. Fieldwork was planned and coordinated by TA laboratory specialist. 3. Data was collected in the field by senior inspectors, inspectors and specialist. 4. Collected ticks were morphologically identified with a microscope by specialized personnel. 5. The collection data was firstly documented on a paper protocol and then submitted into an excel database with the morphological data. 6. The compiled data was submitted to data provider. 7. The data provider submits the database to the correct platform. Data is collected using a predefined sampling protocol and checked by professionals.
