Cougar and coyote GPS telemetry, Utah/Idaho USA (OBIS-ENV-DATA example)

Telemetry data from on-animal sensors deployed on a coyote in Utah in 2004-2005 and a cougar in Idaho in 2014. GPS locations for the coyote were recorded during two separate deployments, 1 in summer and 1 in winter. The collar deployed on the cougar recorded GPS locations, temperature, and standard GPS quality attributes on the same fix schedule, and activity (2-d accelerometer) on a different fix schedule. This dataset represents a part of the dataset published in the Movebank Data Repository (, reformatted here according to the OBIS-ENV-DATA format as a test use case for tracking data. Captures, recoveries, deployments and non-location measurements are stored as events; times and locations of captures, recoveries, and location fixes are stored as occurrences; and measured values of GPS quality attributes, acceleration, and temperature are stored in ExtendedMeasurementOrFact.

Data Records

The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 76,878 records. 2 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
