        <abstract>
            <para>Within the context of VectorNet, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) publish regularly updated vector distribution maps, which are informed by a comprehensive review of the literature and data shared by experts, and also completed by targeted field studies. This study aimed at completing the distribution dataset for, in particular, Culex tritaeniorhynchus and other Culex species (such as Cs. modestus, Cx. theileri, Cx. perexiguus) in the Balkan countries and southern Italy, but also for other VectorNet priority species in other countries of Europe, the Mediterranean Middle East and North Africa. The obtained dataset includes published data collated through a targeted literature review and data generated and shared by local teams (7,915 data lines).</para>
